Valuable – How To Even Count It?

March 24, 2011

Family, ZArchive (Old Blog)

Albert Einstein said, “Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted. ”  (From Brainy Quote)

I thought about today’s word as I took my lunch walk yesterday and thought how can I even begin to describe the word valuable?

My list of what is valuable is so long.  I will try though to describe a few of the many things that are valuable to me.

[Mom – those underlined words are links – click on them to see earlier pictures.]

  • My favorite boy toy (together almost 40 years!)
  • My daughter
  • My sister
  • My mother
  • Family – and I have a lot of family
  • Memories of my cats
  • The dogs, who are the reason I have not gotten another cat.  Here they are – this one, that one, and the other one.
  • My free time
  • The ability to make a good living
  • Freedom
  • So here is my picture of the day – my parents on their wedding day.  They are as young as they looked.

My father is in his army uniform, with the Army Corps of Engineers pin on his collar.  He was in the reserves and on active duty, although he did not go to Korea.  Many others in his generation were not so fortunate.  My generation had the Vietnam war, and the Air Force is getting ready to post my cousin’s oldest son overseas (Afghanistan is the highest probability).

Albert was right – not everything that counts can be counted, from our family to our freedom to the things that give us pleasure.  They are all valuable.

To see how others might interpret today’s randomly selected word, check out KittyHere or There, Anywhere  and ThreeSixFive, TwoZeroOneOne.  It is amazing how differently we each respond in our posts.

Word for tomorrow – STEM.  If you prefer to work ahead, see the list for the week under “A Word A Day”.

We have anniversaries in common. Hubby and I will be celebrating 41 years this June 20th. When do you toast one another in celebration?

Was curious to know how you activate the “click” on specific words throughout your post? Do you add them to your post before publishing? I get words added by WordPress which can be clicked on for Wikipedia definitions. Am intrigued by all the doodads possible.

      hugs for sharing…hugmamma. :)

Our anniversary is in the fall, right in the midst of Indian summer.

The click on specific words is done by using the hyperlink. Copy the URL, type the word(s) into your blog, highlight it with your cursor, then click on the little link that you see in the editor (looks like a chain link). Paste the URL and there you go!

If this doesn’t make sense, let me go and I’ll make up some pictures for you.
