Large Fire Makes It All Better

April 30, 2011

ZArchive (Old Blog)

One of my goals this year has been to write more diligently in my daily journal.  One thing that helps me to do this is to get up early and go to Cracker Barrel for a quick breakfast and then sit there to write for a while.

I love to start my Saturday mornings by sitting there for several hours and catching up on my week.    The wait staff is used to seeing me and they keep my iced tea filled up.  I leave when it starts to get crowded.

Because I’m there early, I often score a seat in front of the fire.  It’s warm and pretty and encourages me to settle down and write.  One of the kitchen staff builds them really good – I can always tell by how large the fire becomes.  And I love it large

Here is a picture of what it looked like in early March.  The wood has all been burned up, so there won’t be any more fires until the fall.  I’ve moved back to sitting by the window, but it’s not the same.

Word for tomorrow – GOOD.  If you prefer to work ahead, see the list for the week under “A Word A Day”.

To see how others might interpret today’s randomly selected word, check out other challenge participants in the box at the right.  For more information on participating in the challenge, click  the tab marked “challenge invitation”.

I’ve had to work hard to not let my life interfer with my dreams. I can’t spend the time on them that I’d like, but I have the satisfaction of doing some of it pretty consistently.

Don’t give up – even doing it a little is better than none at all.

OMG! I love dining at Cracker Barrel. Our family does so at least once when visiting my daughter. I’m a sucker for good, old-fashioned, homestyle, family cooking any day of the week. And as you say, the ambiance adds greatly to the wonderful dining experience.

    my mouth waters as i type…hugmamma. ;)

They’re our favorite restaurant no matter where we’ve lived. The food is dependable and usually tastes really good.
