Billion of Pixels

What would be a billion in my life?  Certainly the financial statements that I work with as part of my job.  Many of those numbers have a billion in the name.

But I strongly suspect that my laptop has over a billion in pixels with all the photos that I have stored on it.  Yes, they are backed up.

It’s really not hard to crack a billion in pixels.  My cameras have ranged from 3 megapixels to 12 megapixels.  Even with a low resolution camera, it doesn’t take many photos to have over a billion in pixels.

So here’s part of the reason I have so many pixels stored – my experimentations.  The one on the left was the original; the one in the center used a magenta filter at 15%; and the right one was a warming filter.

All of them look natural when I compared them to other sky shots that I took.  I did a bunch of these so I know what will happen if I apply different filters to landscape shots, creating a reference for myself to use in the future.
