Never let the dogs in the garden. Never, never, never. They will walk through it, sleep in it, dig in it, and run through it like they’re running a slalom.
It’s hard keeping them out when the yard is small, the dogs are wild, and there’s no fence around the garden. So after I planted it, here’s how I am keeping them out until the plants take over, like last year.
What do I have in here? The usual culprits – tomatoes, peppers, green beans, Swiss chard, and winter squash. The herbs are on the deck in planters, along with the salvia planted to attract the bees needed to pollinate the squash. The pesky trumpet vine is in the back on top of the fence, giving us and our neighbors some nice privacy.

Ah! You’ve given me a great idea once I venture to the raised bed garden next year – I have two labrador retrievers! :-) Best of luck with your garden!
