Flush With Flowers

The local botanical gardens are flush with roses.  There seem to be every kind of rose there – big ones, small ones, pink, red, white – at all stages of open, budding, and spent.  It’s just beautiful, especially with the small brick buildings in the middle of the rose beds.  This picture barely shows all the roses there.

I don’t know if it’s like that every year – there’s an admission fee and I didn’t have a membership last year.  I bought one this year and have been by every few weeks to check out what’s new.

My favorite boy toy and I have gotten several memberships this year – besides this one, we also got one to the local art museum that gives us tickets to each exhibit they have.  So far we’ve seen the Picasso exhibit and the Tiffany Glass.  We also saw an exhibit on American quilts – something we never would have paid for and found fascinating.  I was so glad we had the opportunity to see it and learn more about history.

While this started as an ode to how flush the roses in bloom are right now, it ended up being an explanation of why I invest in annual memberships and how much I enjoy them.  If you have an interest or a passion, consider whether a membership is right for you.  The trick of course, being to use it frequently and get your money’s worth.
