At the end of October, I wrote about planning ahead for the Christmas holidays. So how is this North Pole elf doing?
Not very good. Maybe Santa will fire me and I can go back to bed. Ha!
I’d hoped by Thanksgiving to have my annual letter drafted and photos chosen. I also wanted to get the decorations up before we left for Thanksgiving, as by the time I get them up in December, there’s not much time to enjoy them before it’s Christmas. None of those are done.
On the plus side, I’ve made most of the presents that I’m making and bought the others. There are a few left to buy (hello Amazon!) but not many. I did start listening to Christmas music in November which I really enjoyed. Between Chris Botti, Manheim Steamroller, and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, I’ve been rocking my way into work most days.
I’m being a bit grumpy about the undone things. I want those decorations up! The letter done! More Christmas music on my iPod!
Realistically though, I’m not that behind. I can get the decorations up one evening this week, work on the letter next weekend. It would have been nice though to be done sooner with it all.
That’s today’s report from the North Pole!
Today’s pictures are part of the evening light display at the botanical gardens. I’m not quite sure how the spiders figure into Christmas and they’re not left over from Halloween.
On the other hand, they are carnivores around the bog area, the same place as the carnivorous pitcher plants. If nothing else, Christmas decorations will be a lot more fun for the little boys who like spiders better than the princesses. They are pretty cool looking too.
Word for tomorrow – BRILLIANT. If you prefer to work ahead, see the list for the week under “A Word A Day”.

I haven’t figured out the spiders yet, either. Will it make you feel better to know you are ahead of me in Christmas preparations? Here’s my link for today. North Pole came to mind, but then something else came up…

LOL! I’m not sure that’s good to be ahead of you. Get going girl. Time is getting short.
I saw your post about what happened and left a message there. God was watching over you.

Really? Spiders for Christmas???
It’s just the two of us here, Bob and me. Christmas is neither bought nor made, decorations are nil due to mass reconstruction on my craft room, whose contents BTW, have currently have taken over the living room. No tree, no trimmings here… Oh wait, does the wreath on the door count? It is all supposed to be done and moved back before Dec. 25th so I CAN decorate. Well see! Oh, but I do have my Christmas music to keep me motivated. I want this project DONE. ;)

Having the house ripped up is no fun. But yes, I think we can count on the wreath on the back door plus the music. Remember, the rules are what you make of them. As long as you’re happy, it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks except Bob.

I love your Christmas header. You didn’t mention that in your list of things you’ve accomplished.
I know how you feel. I get kind of grumpy at all the things yet undone. I think it’s because I want to get everything just perfect and then have time to sit back and enjoy it all. Otherwise I no sooner get it all done, then it’s time to clean it all back up.
Enjoy the time. Even now.

Good advice – thanks. And you’re right – keeping up on the blog is a good accomplishment.
