Peggy Hostetler, author of the blog The Simple Woman, has a powerful set of questions to help diarists and bloggers record their life at the present moment in time. You consider things such as what you are doing, thinking and wearing. It asks about your plans for the rest of the week and invites you to post a recent picture of yourself.
You can link back to Peggy (or not). She has a large and vibrant community participating in this with her. I’ve used her questions on occasion, finding it to be a time capsule of my life to look back on, such as this post last December. Pam over at Mushy Cloud also uses the Daybook questions, most recently here.
One hint for using the questions – I found it copied into my blog and journals better if I first pasted it into Microsoft Notepad, then copied it again. Notepad removes any formatting and makes it easier to incorporate into my own formats.

I love doing the daybook entries, especially on those days where it seems there’s too much going on and I need a bit of time to just sit and focus for a short while. They are a great tool for compartmentalising my life at those times when it is a bit overwhelming or just plain manic. It’s a great way to have a peek at what other people have got going on in their lives in a snapshot too. Dive in and join us!!
I do as Nancy suggested and I keep a Word document template with the questions on for me to just pull up and use when I need it. I have sorted out all the formatting and spacing on it so it’s a doddle to just fill it in, copy and then paste it into WordPress.

Pam – thank you SO much for expanding on my blog post. That is just wonderful. I’ve only done one of these so far and am sorry I’m not doing them more regularly. It’s wonderful capture of a moment in time.
