For those of you who use Instagram, they recently changed their policy to include some ambiguous wording that could allow them to use and sell your photos without your permission or payment to you.
According to Reuters, they have now reverted to the original wording for photo usage, but other terms still remain applicable, including their right to use your personal information. If your account is not deleted by January 19, you agree to be bound by the new terms.

Thank you for sharing this, Nancy. Although I don’t use Instagram I know there are thousands of users out there that do, and this will affect them.
We are a digital world, who daily shares and stores much out there “In the Cloud.” It is becoming harder and harder to be creative and share without getting bit in the backside for the privilege. Oh, and while I am on the subject, thank you for your other article/notice on pingbacks, or as your friend NRHATCH called them “Stringpings.”

You’re welcome! And yeah, with the cloud involved in so many things this is going to have to get resolved somehow. For people like my husband who make a living with his photographs, having it taken and then spread around is a kiss of death.

Yikes! I forgot about that. :(

Thanks for the update on this. I procrastinated getting hooked up with Instagram, and now glad I did.

I’d looked at it several times and didn’t get it. Now I’m glad I didn’t bother.

I don’t use it, but I reckon that people who don’t read the Terms of Service for something they sign up to, and keep up to date with changes… well… y’know…
I’ll share this for you on Facebook.

I try to read them, but they are pages long and deliberately obtuse. It’s hard to really know what they’re trying to say and then when the changes come one on top of the other, it’s easy to miss when a change is really bad. Of course, if they did plain English so we all understood what they were doing, no one would do it!
Thanks (as always) for stopping by!
